The American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) is an global professional organization for mechanical engineers that provides benefits for students at a national level. We are UNM’s chapter of ASME, meaning we are a student run section of ASME that provides local benefits for students.

Our misson is to provide our members with as much value as possible to set them up for success in the study and profession of mechanical engineering. We want our members to have the ability to manifest their interest and skills into meaningful projects and further excel those interest and skills.

We host and invite you to events such as:
- Conference Trips: The International Mechanical Engineering Congress & Exposition (IMECE) is an opportunity for students to travel and attend graduate to PhD presentations from across the world and network with researchers, colleges, and industry leaders.
- Competitions: Members will be able to participate in several competitions during the spring by the national organizations or participate in other projects outside of ASME.
- Networking Events: Job fairs, internship opportunities, job shadowing opportunities.
- Training / Tech Events: Tech talks, UNM research presentations, Workshops.
